    Your video inspired me to pull my XJ6C. But I’m stuck. What is the size of the 4 bolts connecting the torque converter to the flywheel? And how can I fit a torque wrench to them, or is there another solution?

    Good job! The radio isn't connected as it should. Normally, there is a constant +, a constant - and an ignition-switched +. Otherwise, the radio would be on all the time.

    Another awesome video! I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets on my pre- He XJS. I saw in your previous videos you recommend getting the better thicker gaskets instead of factory original. Where can I get those better thicker valve cover gaskets from? I don't think you say where in those valve cover gasket replacement videos. like always thank you so much for all the great videos! Cheers from Lunenburg Nova Scotia Canada.

    Rust from an old steel can as has been said already, or rust from the underground storage pens the fuel is kept in when you fill up at a station, I did for a short while suffer the same sort of thing, just less rust, my tank is alloy and I don't use steel fuel containers, ended up being the fuel station itself, they admitted that several folks had same the same thing over a few months period so they called folks in to check it, sure enough the tank was rotten and bad luck saw me and others fill up when the tank was near empty.

    I have one customer (a Judge) who always brought me his truck with almost no fuel, no matter how many times I bitched at him he still did it, the next time I filled it up and charged him for my time filling it, he never did it again. 🤑😁

    If you get the car back with more crud in the filter, try an endoscope or a small mirror to see what the very top of the tank looks like. If the car sat for awhile with the tank partially empty, the upper part of the tank could have rusted and junk is falling down.

    There seemed to be a lot of rust flakes around the filler neck that might fall into the tank during filling.

  • @charliemanson4808
    @charliemanson4808 3 дні тому

    I agree Adam, when you showed the rust in the tank and then it after flushing I immediately thought fuel from an old metal jerrycan that had been dry stored for years and then had fuel put in and transfered to the Jag.

    I feel like drop-kicking my su pump across the field. I took it apart yesterday to find a perished diaphragm and luckily I had another crusty old pump laying around in my spare parts pile that's luckily probably never seen ethanol, nicked the diaphragm from that and put it in my working one. Now I can't seem to get it to operate, I'm pretty sure after watching you're video that I'm not screwing the diaphragm in to the correct tension. I'll go out and have another go in a bit, thanks.

    IMHO you need longer ramps that 1100 grounded out.OR a lower system on your truck.

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic 4 дні тому

      I have another plan. It doesn’t happen with a heavier vehicle and longer ramps would be a pain. I plan to add air shocks to the rear to be able to lower it when loading and then raise it again when I drive

    I have an 88 XJ-S that stumped me. It was giving me a condition where it revs high and starts idle surging once warm. Usually, this symptom is a bad aav. I got a new aav and put it in, and the same thing happened. If I run the car with the aav disconnected from the intake manifold, it runs smoothly. I smoke tested the car, and there were no leaks. When I unplugged the tps to see what it would do it stopped idle surging and reved high. Do you think my tps is bad or isn't connected properly

    Well. This Morris with short wheelbase and good ground clearance gets its underside scrubbed when loading / unloading. How you manage to load long and low Jaguars on that thing without problems is still a mystery to me. I said this since you bought the car. As said before. That they couldn't help you at the gasstation doesn't really surprise me, but that you asked 40 motorists and no-one had one in their car is just crazy. Most people these days just call the recovery service and sit and wait for them to come and do such a simple job.

      As no cars come with spares, there's no point in having a wrench, just like there's no point in having a jack either.
